19Pencils is a completely free service for teachers and students. It always has been and always will be.

Where does the name 19Pencils come from?

One of our founders once asked a teacher what his ideal class size was, to which he responded "About 19." So there you have the "19", it represents the ideal number of students in a typical K-12 class.
The "Pencils" represents students. Quirky we know, but we like it.

What is 19Pencils all about?

The web is a vast place full of content; some suitable for education and some not so much. We want to make it easy for teachers to find the good content and easily share it with their students as well as colleagues. It's that simple.

If you have an idea for a feature you'd like to see, by all means let us know. We carefully consider each and every piece of feedback we receive.

I don't see my district or school.

As we broaden support for 19Pencils we intend to continually expand our list of locations, districts and schools to select from. In the event your specific option isn't listed you can simply select "Other". You will still have complete access to the rich features and content as well as have the ability to align content with a specific grade level.

As additional choices for locations become available you will be able to update yours within the My Account section of your Dashboard. If you have any questions or comments drop us a note.
